In our travels, we've discovered the charm of Australia's true hidden gems— small, local brands that not only enhance our experiences but also support the community.
On this page; you'll find a quick synapses of a whole bunch of our favourite brands. By choosing these local brands, we're not just buying products; we're investing in the stories and livelihoods of our fellow Australians, and supporting someone's dream – and we couldn't ask for anything better.
Please note, none of these brands are paying to be here on our list; they are just brands that we genuinely use, and love to support.
This one's a bit of a given that it makes our list; this is OUR brand!
We own and run Aus Wild Clothing Co.
We absolutely LOVE our Hendeer rug. Man it's seem some places... Unfortunately we seem to have left this behind somewhere in Arnhem Land.. :(
We have a whole range of lightweight gear from Zorali, perfect to pack in a hiking bag, or stash away in the boat for an island adventure.
Pretty much the only shoes Bel wear's on the road, she's either in her Merrell hiking boots, thongs to go to the supermarket - or barefoot.
We opted to avoid the more common brand marketed; and purchased ourselves a FireMaple Stove. Coffee in the mornings has never been faster!
This Nakie gear has visited every state! Our super lightweight blanket is perfect to stuff between gaps to prevent rattle, or wrap around us at the fire without having to get our bedding out.
Bel's forever talking to road trains and chatting with others on the road about safe overtaking areas; plus she's been able to use it to call for help when solo.
We all know that living on the road takes a good power system - and we couldn't be happier with our full set of gear from Atem Power. Lithium batteries, solar panels, chargers, the whole works...
After having to replace a rod and reel in Weipa - Bel ended up with a Daiwa Combo, and we wouldn't trade it.
We've since invested in other rod and reel combos for different depths, all Daiwa branded.
Bel spent her first few years on the road living out of a swag - this was a 23 Zero. From outback QLD, to the Vic High Country, the NT, and WA - this swag was rolled up on the daily, thrown up on the roof, and set up again after a few hours. Always with blankets and pillows still intact, and never a drama. Plus; Jet's never complained about a night in the swag so it must be good.
We do own other action cams, but also invested in a DJI Action along side our drone; and have never had a drama until we recently broke them both... Anyone want to shout us a new one..?
Maybe old school here, but we've got a stash of good old Hema paper maps - as well as a nationwide atlas, and it's seriously the BEST thing ever. You will never convince me that electronic maps are better!
The boys here are just absolute bloody legends. They've always been a great help, and able to fit us in with little notice when passing through town.
